is a domain name (see domain name faqs)?
A domain name is a unique address that is used on the internet e.g.www.yourco.com.
When you buy your .name, you are buying an Internet address as individual
as you. You'll be able to create your own Web site and use your .name
as an address through which you can have all your e-mail forwarded.
But these services are just the beginning. Your .name could soon become
a single contact point and storage place for personal information
that you can access anywhere, anytime. Note that simply registering
a domain name does not in itself enable you to receive email or operate
a website, rather it stakes a claim to the address should you want
to do so in the future. Provided that the domain you wish to register is still available, and that you are entitled to register it (dot ie only), we can register a domain name for you. Even if you are not yet ready to develop a website, we strongly advise that you register your domain name, in order to protect it. There have already been cases where business names have been registered by others, looking to make a significant profit by selling the name back to the rightful owners. For Irish companies, you have 2 main choices: (a) www.yourcompany.ie - we would recommend a dot ie domain name, for companies who wish to establish a uniquely Irish based identity. (b) www.yourcompany.com or .net or .org Apart from being cheaper, a dot com address, is an internationally recognised business domain name.
